Larry has been guiding deer hunts since 1999 and hunting deer since the early 1970’s.
His objective is to ensure you have a quality hunting experience with the opportunity to tag a buck that will meet your expectations.
He grew up spot and stalk hunting and loves the process of sneaking in open country to within gun range of mature bucks.
Archery hunting big whitetail deer in wood lots is Larry’s next obsession. He invests a lot of time and energy to learn the deer habits and create an environment that will give you choices when you are in the tree stand or shooting house.
All hunts are guided one on one.

For several years this 640-acre Kansas property was kept private with only a buck or two taken in any given season. Come and experience a fully guided one on one archery hunt. All stands are ladder style between 18 and 21 feet high.

The hunt includes 4 days of hunting between November 1st and 12th with lodging and meals included. Only two guided hunts are offered Each year.

There are two hunt options:
-
Management bucks, 4 ½ or older with 8 points or less unless determined in advance that a buck is on the management list. Price $2,500
-
Trophy bucks, 4 ½ or older and larger than 8 points. Price $3,500

Here’s something you won’t often see. If you are with us on management buck hunt and the giant shows up, you’ll simply be charged for the trophy hunt if you shoot him. We’ll be happy to celebrate your choice to shoot the giant that would normally be on the do not shoot list when you’re on a management hunt.
Larry has been guiding deer and turkey hunts for Tim and Kim Horton since the lodge opened in 2019. He can be requested or may be assigned to your hunt if you simply book directly.

The hunting options are:

600 acres of preserve high fence deer hunts. All with a guide

Over 3,000 acres of free-range deer hunting. A guide will16 drop you at the stand and pick you up each hunt.

Fully guided spring turkey hunts

Upland bird hunts mostly between the close of preserve deer hunting and the start of spring turkey season.

Larry was an original investment partner when Deadman Creek Outfitters was founded in 1999. He grew up near the 42,000-acre property and hunted the area for most of his early years in life. He was also on site guiding every deer season for 18 years before moving to Alabama.

He is available to personally guide you when requested, but the operating partners and local guides are excellent at putting hunters on multiple bucks over the course of a hunt.
